I decided to buy me an electric razor the other day. Ever since the discovery of the electrical current and thanks to Thomas Edison mankind’s mindset has been “anything electric will obviously make life easier. I am now well into my sixties, and my body is feeling the effects of the aging process.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, yet our inner self is being renewed day by day.”
2 Corinthians 4:16
I try not to lose heart but gone are the days when I can touch my toes. I consider it a good day if I can bend enough to touch my knees. I know it’s gonna be a good day when I wake up and my arthritis isn’t flaring, or my joints aren’t sore from sleeping in a bad position, or one of the myriad of muscle groups don’t ache because I tried walking these Tennessee hills. Just the other day I thought I threw my should out of joint not because I was doing any superb athletic endeavor, it was simply because my depth perception was a little off the day before and I missed a step on the stairs and smacked my shoulder into the wall. So yes, if I can find anything electric to make my life a little easier, I am going for it.
So, I unpack the box and the crazy razor would not work. I had a mind to send it back. Yes, I Amazoned the purchase, but I decided to give it a good charge over night. The next morning, I unplug it; same thing it still would not come on. I plug it back in, turn it on and it started to work, so I unplug it again, turn it on and still nothing happened. I was frustrated by that time, but I am learning to breathe through frustration.
It OCCURRED to me…I do not think this electric razor is cordless.
It OCCURRED to me…Read the instructions. Guess what: that razor needs to be plugged into the power source.
And then
It OCCURRED to me…I am not cordless either. I need to be plugged into my POWER SOURCE if I want to work properly.
I assumed the razor was cordless because now a days isn’t everything cordless. But what if the best ways were old school. I am discovering being plugged in is not so bad.
So many days I try to live life cordless. Some days I even assume I have enough charge within myself that I can function and work through my week, because heck I read my bible this morning. I went to church on Sunday, but some days that’s just not enough. I don’t have enough energy power with in me to face that certain storm coming my way.
The parable of the razor: STAY CONTINUALLY PLUGGED INTO MY POWER SUPPLY. God is my Rock, God is my fortress.
And…God is my Energy Supply.
Read my instruction book, God’s Word will let me know my purpose for the day. Know His Word it is my supply line for anything that comes my way.

Haha best post yet! I needed to hear that story so that I can stay plugged in. Great analogy
