Well, according to scientific facts, our planet has just completed one revolution around what is the center of our solar system, the sun. We have also begun a new revolution around the sun. Since we are 10 days into 2018, it will take us approximately another 355 days to complete this new revolution around the sun.

I know that’s probably 5th grade science knowledge right? So my point is?

Facts about our solar system contain deep spiritual truths.

”The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.” Psalm 19:1-6 NIV.

The earth revolves around the sun because of the pull of the sun’s gravity. Again, I know you know all this so why am I droning on and on with it?

Have you ever wondered what would happen to planet earth if there was no gravitational pull from the sun? Would we just go spinning off into the unknown galaxy?

We have no fear of that happening because of God’s orderly design of our solar system, but at times my life has felt like it has been on an uncontrollable spin into a chaotic whirl because I had no orbit. The Son was no longer at the center of my universe. It seemed like my wants, my dreams, my justification, and my validation, became my revolution. I had broken the gravitational pull of The Son or so it seemed.

I have learned what appears to be truth to me from my perspective is not God’s Truth. Just like the earth can never break free from the pull of the sun’s gravity, neither can I break away from the gravitational pull of the Son of God.

”This Son is the radiance of His glory and the imprint of His being upholding all things by His powerful word.” Hebrews 1:3

Jesus, Son of God, holds our world together. He is our sun. He is our center. Our lives and our world revolve around Him.

As we begin this new revolution around the sun, remember we orbit the Son also.

”The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, the the Lamb is its lamp.” Revelation 21:23 NIV
