LET GRATITUDE BE MY DEFAULT SETTING

What is your go to move when technology fails you? I have a love hate relationship with all my smart technology. And by the way, who determined to call these devices smart? Smart TV, Smart IPhone, you get my drift. Sometimes they are not smart at all. And I refuse to think they are smarter than me. I know I am being vain, but sometimes all these smart devices just downright frustrate me. My go to move… RESET, and my most drastic move… UNPLUG IT! Internet running slow… unplug that thing. Buffering… turn off my device. And don’t you just love the caution – “Are you sure you want to continue.” Or “This will return to factory default settings.” I’m just stubborn enough to say, “Yeah, I’m sure. I dare you go ahead and continue.”

Sometimes I wonder if My Lord God, my Creator wants to reset my settings? I read the quote above in my daily devotional from Inspiration Co. @InspirationCo “Let gratitude be my default setting.” That just makes me smile automatically. If you don’t follow this devotional company I highly recommend them. Great one liners that just brighten up any day. This morning my challenge from Inspiration Co. @InspirationCo “Laugh intentionally.” Now doesn’t that just make your day.

And by the way… Happy 250 years America. Today I am grateful to our Sovereign God for allowing the birth of this nation where I can be free to read God’s Word and study it.

From sea to shining sea, I believe and am grateful to Lord and Creator of all for the United States of America. We are flawed people living with imperfect leadership. I admit that, but we have an unfailing God that governs all flesh and He gave us this nation so that we may freely worship Him. I don’t want to take that freedom for granted. I am grateful to the men and women who serve and defend our unalienable Rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

I am grateful for all who have gone before me. I am grateful to Christian forefathers who stood their ground and defended their belief in our Creator.

Allow Washington’s Prayer To Stir You:

O eternal and everlasting God, I presume to present myself this morning before thy Divine majesty, beseeching thee to accept of my humble and hearty thanks, that it hath pleased thy great goodness to keep and preserve me the night past from all the dangers poor mortals are subject to, and has given me sweet and pleasant sleep, whereby I find my body refreshed and comforted for performing the duties of this day, in which I beseech thee to defend me from all perils of body and soul.

Direct my thoughts, words and work. Wash away my sins in the immaculate blood of the lamb, and purge my heart by thy Holy Spirit, from the dross of my natural corruption, that I may with more freedom of mind and liberty of will serve thee, the everlasting God, in righteousness and holiness this day, and all the days of my life.

Increase my faith in the sweet promises of the Gospel. Give me repentance from dead works. Pardon my wanderings, and direct my thoughts unto thyself, the God of my salvation. Reading this prayer I am reminded of Paul’s words, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”

I am grateful to God for giving wisdom to the writers of the Declaration of Independence, our own Constitution of the United States and other founding documents. Embedded in these documents is the belief in God and belief in His Son the Savior of the world.

A story is written, “As the story is told by Reverend Snowden in his “Diary and Remembrances,” Isaac Potts, a Quaker, a Tory, and a pacifist, was strolling through the woods in Valley Forge during the winter.

“I heard a plaintive sound as, of a man at prayer,” Potts said. “I tied my horse to a sapling and went quietly into the woods and to my astonishment I saw the great George Washington on his knees alone, with his sword on one side and his cocked hat on the other. He was at Prayer to the God of the Armies, beseeching to interpose with his Divine aid, as it was His crisis, and the cause of the country, of humanity, and of the world. Such a prayer I never heard from the lips of man. I left him alone praying. I went home and told my wife, ‘I saw a sight and heard today what I never saw or heard before,’ and just related to her what I had seen and heard and observed. We never thought a man could be a soldier and a Christian, but if there is one in the world, it is Washington. She also was astonished. We thought it was the cause of God, and America could prevail.”

May my default setting be gratitude to an ALL KNOWING ALL LOVING CREATOR GOD SOVEREIGN OVER ALL THE UNIVERSE AND TO JESUS CHRIST SON OF GOD THROUGH WHOM SUSTAINS ALL THINGS.
