Day 5 – THE SOUND OF SILENCE

I did again. I just left God my laundry list of things He needs to clean up. I just told the Creator of the universe how He should handle each of these situations that are affecting my life or my family’s lives. I keep forgetting He holds all things in the palm of His hand.

““Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.””
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

How hard is that. Really, I am asking. “Be still.” That’s like asking a toddler to be quiet in church. We live in an age and amongst a society where it is seldom quiet. Everyone is plugged into some device or another. IPhones, IPads, Samsung, Galaxy, whatever your device we are plugged in. Internet is easily accessible. Just last night as I looked around the restaurant couples searching their phones, business men on their computers, and people gaining access to the free wi fi. Pure silence, it is becoming a thing of the past.

We are uncomfortable with silence. We meet a person for the first time and make our introductions, then silence. Can you say awkward?

Now try going before the KING OF THE WORLD. Go ahead try it. Go before Him and be still. Ignore al your base instincts, ignore your natural habits to plug into something, and just go before Him and be still. Turn off the TV, don’t chase squirrels and let your thoughts run rampant with all things you should accomplish today. Just go, take 5, sit before Him, be still and just listen.

What is He saying?

Are you like Zechariah?

What truth do you need to learn from this silent priest?

  1. We have an ongoing joke in our family about Kellye’s phrasing, for instance in this post she says be still and quit chasing squirrels. But for most of the rest of the world the phrase is quit chasing “rabbits” she always get close but….we call is Kellyeisms, it’s where she gets close to but not quite right????. But she is so right on trying to sit still and listen to God, I’m not used to total silence. But if you will do this you’ll find that you won’t be in a state of silence, but you’ll hear the quite and radiant word from God himself. The more you do it the more He will communicate with you.
