Kevin walked by as I was finishing washing my face for the night and did a double take. “What are you doing?”
“I’m putting on all my beauty treatments that keep my face young and glowing.” I stated matter of factly while I was rolling this contraption that reminds me of a tiller you would use to aireate your yard. “This roller pokes holes in your face so I can put on my night time renewing serum.” I thought he really wanted to know so I added my commentary.
I use the “Soothe” line of Roden Fields skin care, and let me tell you, “I love the sensitive skin treatment.” It just adds a brightness to your skin tone.
Kevin just walked off shaking his head. I wonder what he was thinking.
I have a regimen I do nightly and then every morning preparing my skin for the day so I can look presentable.
I recently read a story about a Hindu trader who once asked a Christian missionary, “What do you put on your face to make it shine so?” The missionary answered, “I don’t put anything on it.” “Yes, you do,” said the trader. “All you Christians do. I have seen it in Agra, and in Ahmedabad, and in Surat, and in Bombay.” The missionary laughed, and his happy face shone as he said, “I’ll tell you what it is that makes my face shine. It is happiness in the heart. Jesus gives me joy.”
I do a lot to make my face seem brighter, but seriously, how simple was that? It’s the beauty within that truly sets us apart. I never even thought about how that might appear to others.
Christ within us. It makes our faces glow. It doesn’t cost anything. All that is required is a sacrifice of time. Time to spend with Jesus and let Him polish up our heart which polishes up our face.
Last week I finished writing the chapter of the woman at the well and how because she met Jesus she became the first woman evangelist. She inspired her whole village to seek Jesus for themselves. They went searching because of the change in her. They believed because the had a personal encounter with Jesus.
That is what our world needs now. More people to have the glow of Jesus about them.
