Ruach Elohim – the wind/breath of God
King David saw the same mighty storm clouds of God in Psalm 18
“In my distress I called on Adonai, and cried to my God for help. From His Temple He heard my voice, my cry before Him came into His ears. Then the earth rocked and quaked. The foundations of mountains trembled. They reeled because He was angry. Smoke rose from His nostrils and consuming fire from His mouth. Coals blazed from Him. He parted the heavens and came down, with thick darkness under His feet. He rode upon a cheruv and flew. He soared on the wings of the wind. He made darkness His cover, His sukkah all around Him – dark waters, thick clouds. Out of the brilliance before Him passed His thick clouds, hail and fiery coals. Adonai also thundered in the heavens, and Elyon gave forth His voice, hail and fiery coals.” Psalm 18:&-14 TLV
“Then ravines of water appeared. The foundations of earth were exposed, at Your rebuke, Adonai, at a blast of breath from Your nostrils, He reached down from on high and took hold of me. He drew me out of mighty waters.” Psalm 18:16-17 TLV
I took these verses from The Tree of Life version of the Bible. They paint a strong picture don’t you think? Some may argue King David painted of fanciful tale with his words, but if you want to hear the true cry of your heart, you must realize this is who God is. We’ve seen the movies and the TV shows about a queen who rides dragons, and teenagers read about Percy Jackson and the Olympians. These are mythical whimsie of fictional writers, but there is One who is all theses wrapped into One being. He is our Great God and King David caught a glimpse of His majesty in Psalm 18.
God is a mighty fortress to be reckoned with. Only this type of Being could create the earth and all that is in it.
The earth began as a chaotic mass, and only a Mighty God could bring order into such chaos. The description David gave of God is what he saw, these phrases are not some dreamed up being of his own imaginations. At one point of King David’s timeline, he saw the hand of God reach out and pull him out of deep waters.
To live and become a whole and complete person we must all come to the surrendering that the Word of God and the beginning of the Bible is truth.
As Priscilla Shirer says, “In Genesis God is the very Breath of Life.”
The verses in Genesis 1 are facts. They are our origins of being and it is Science 101. The storm clouds of God hovered over this swirling mass of muck and God brought life and order into our planet.
“Then God said, “Let there be light!” And there was light.” Genesis 1:3 TLV
