It was the last candle lit for Christmas 2023. Its flame rose higher and higher. The flickering became brighter and brighter. I thought of all the prayers I had prayed throughout the Christmas season. I would end each prayer asking, “In Jesus name I pray.”
Jesus, Yeshua, Jesus Christ, Christ the anointed One, Immanuel – Christ with us. The last one being my favorite, and in the glow of the advent candles I knew Jesus Christ was with us. Could I actually feel His Presence in my dining room last night? It was more of a comfort like a weighted blanket. All I knew was Jesus promised, “Lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age.” And that is all I needed last night to know that last advent candle, THE CHRIST CANDLE, was an echo of Jesus’ promise. He said it. I believe it. It is so.
So as we end Advent 2023, we still are in a season of advent (the arrival of a notable person, thing or event.) Just as Zechariah had his “one day” moment, there will come a day when we will look up and see the clouds rolled back and the arrival of the KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS will appear.
