It’s dark. Sunlight hasn’t yet broken through the trees. I hear thunder rumbling in the distance, and here I sit waiting, wondering what that first Easter morning must have been like before any human interrupts the moment. What was it like in the stillness as Jesus lay there, no breath in His lungs, and no heartbeat in His chest? Then God breaks into death’s vise grip. “Arise My Love.”
The Son obeys for death did not nor could not keep Him shackled. He was in control all the time. Love, it’s the love between Father and Son, and it’s a bond so strong that it could be bound. Resurrection Power came down and broke into a rich man’s tomb. It caused an earth quake. It was there at the beginning. It was the breath The Creator breathed into the lungs of Adam. Jesus received that same breath again. Life giving breath that awakens the body has animated Jesus. He rises still shrouded with grave cloths. He removes them and folds them neatly. He places them on death’s resting place. It’s finished. He would not be back again. He will never lie down again. Death’s sleep could not keep Him in this position.
Jesus overcame. He rose wearing the Victor’s Crown. Heaven’s Angels are all around. Father and Son united. Son glorified. For just that moment, it was only Them. Victor’s. Glory filled that cave. The earth shook as a Mighty Angelic Soldier came down. The Roman chains that were meant to seal up the tomb just fell. A boulder blocked His exit. No man could move it. The Angel threw it up hill and sat on it. He was shining as lightning. His clothes were white as snow. The mind of the soldiers guarding the tomb could not process all that was happening. They fell as dead men. They fainted.
Jesus walked out. The Angel knew the instructions.
That’s it, just that moment of time on the timeline of salvation is our victory song. It was Their moment, it was Their dance of eternity.
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone. I know He holds the future.
“We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.” Hebrews 12:2
The day has dawned. The bright and morning star has broken through the horizon. Welcome Easter morn. Resurrection Power has overcome the darkness.
Well said
